high school to high end !

During our seminar we were given the opportunity to look at other Fashion Photography groups work and my group and I were horrified to discover that another group had completed their photo shoot and had used the same concept of ours.
This was a major crisis point as we had already selected models and completed the styling. Although at this point  we were over half way through this project we decided to change our concept entirely as we didn't want our work being compared with another groups.
After much brainstorming and researching we decided to keep the location of the Library for our photo shoot the same. Our new concept is about people being educated about style and fashion. We have decided to keep the models the same and style them in on trend, editorial outfits that wold look out of place in a University Library, the models would then be surrounded by books on fashion related subjects such as style, fashion houses and designers We collectively agreed that the poses of the model should be more editorial and less movement sequence which was the sort of poses we wanted for our initial concept.
Through different resources I have collected images portraying examples of editorial poses we can consider and use as inspiration.

Testing ! Testing ! 1, 2, 3 !

After many meetings, discussions, debates, deliberations, back and forth, whatever you may want to call it ! The res of the Fashion Photography group and myself finally decided on a concept for this ongoing project based on the word 'Education'. Our concept is based on the idea of typical stereotypes within high school; the jock, the bimbo. the geek, the timid emo, the bitchy daddy's girls. The idea for the photo shoot is to style our selected models as fashion forward versions of these stereotypes and to photograph them within our chosen location, which is the library. We decided to shoot within the library as our chosen location due to the fact of the vast research and knowledge within a library which in turn leads to educating the people inside.
With our concept in mind we carried out a test shoot on location to consider both the photography, styling and the concept as a whole.

Our group met up after the photo shoot to discuss the outcome of the photo shoot. It was a unanimous vote that the model was not suitable for the look we were after. Although the styling was successful, it could of worked better if the model wasn't as thin as she was. Also, it was noticed by the make up artist and from close up shots of the model that she had bad skin. So we have decided to source another model for this look from Model Mayhem.

My Loves ! My Lusts !

It has been some time since I last posted My Loves ! My Lusts onto my blog, and truth be told I don't know why I stopped posting it as it was one of my favourite features on my heart on my fashion sleeve !
However, after seeing a somewhat similar version on Fashion156.com's Daily Blog I decided to bring this feature back to life.

This photograph of model Patricia Schmidt graced the cover of Vogue Paris in the February 2007 edition. I decided to add this because i love how effective this photograph is with such little styling involved. I also added this photograph because it was shot by one of my favourite fashion photographers, Mario Testino.

This Disney inspired illustration was drawn by ulrich Schroder and featured in the April 2010 edition of Elle Spain. I love this illustration because I am a huge Disney fan and because I immediately spotted the character on the right hand page who (all fashionistas should know) clearly resembles Karl Lagerfeld.

With the wedding event of the year upon us, Vogue embraced all that is bridal with not one but three wedding inspired covers for this month's edition. Supermodels Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova and Freja Beha Erichsen are on three seperate collectible covers. All aspects of the magazines from styling, layout, and haii and make up is elegant, simplistic, romantic with a fairytale feel.

This photograph is from Ellie Saab's Spring 2011 couture collection.
I love Ellie Saab's designs, especially his couture collections.
I lust for Ellie Saab to design a wedding dress for me.
I best start saving now !

I think I have mentioned Mojitos in several previous blog posts but that's because they're an important part of my life/ When I say it like that 1) I sound like an alcoholic and 2) I make it sound that mojitos are the equivalent of a boyfriend or child. I really do love Mojitos they remind me of great nights out and they remind me of being on holiday. The two best places I have had Mojitos are T.G.I Friday's where they also do a delicious Raspberry Mojito. My second but just as delicious mojito is from Camel Bar, Sharm El Sheikh, Eqypt.

My next love is Fashion156.com ! This months 'Colour Issue' is packed full of amazing and inspiring fashion, style, photography and most importantly Colour. I love Fashion156.com because it is an amazing online magazine with fantastic editorial photography, high end fashion, a highly creative and informative Daily Blog,  reports from the latest catwalk collections, and up to date advice on on trend beauty and grooming tips.

My final love in this month's feature is ice lollies and more in particular my favourite which is a Fruit Pastille ice lolly. I love them because when I can have one outside without shivering or getting chills down my back, I know it's officially summertime !

setting the mood !

As our group have been contemplating the concept of high school stereotypes for this Education project, I created mood boards that displayed through styling how these stereotypes would be achieved. I decided to use references from popular culture such as TV and Music, and this seasons trends when considering garments for each look.

I love you Won Hundred times over !

This weeks posts on www.fashion156.com's Daily Blog comes courtesy of Susan Walsh, as she gets a sneek peek at the look book of Won Hundred's Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 collection.

The distinguished and unique brand was established by veteran designer Nikolaj Nielsen. His design background and experience is in denim. His motive was to challenge the way in which his native Denmark grasped the concept of fashion.Won Hundred's Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 designs are inspired by the concept of subculture in both the desire to belong to a group but yet on the other hand distinguish oneself from the rest of the pack. The collection translates the same initiative and resourceful nature of the Mods of the 1960's, who when unable to find any slim fitted menswear pants utilized oversized knitwear to disguise this fact; ensuring the silhouette remained in tune with mod aesthetics. This style illusion is reflected in highly textured long woollen jumpers and cardigans in cashmere and mohair that slouch over trousers. The a-line, a cut instrumental to this era's look is the choice mould for skirts and dresses. Colour complies to a modest palette in the form of burgundy, grey, navy, white and black as these hues are marked by a 'make do and mend' ethos.

Rules of the Playground !

As part of my education assignment I decided to add this short film by Bruno Centofanti from www.fashion156.com/. It is entitled the playground and I have posted it on my blog due to the location and the inspirational styling by Guy Hipwell.

Drawing From Inspiration !

Check out fashion156.com and their Daily Blog Feature showcasing the work of Illustrator Zoe TaylorThe illustrations of Zoe Taylor recreate not only the designs of a collection but also the mood. She creatively and cleverly builds a world around the design's aesthetic. Her drawings have an almost crayon-like quality to them as they are rich and textured in colour. In each picture you are transported into that look's world.

Zoe Taylor places clothing in realist settings such as this illustration of Yohji Yamamoto A/W designs in a library.
